Joris
Joris was founded in Belgium almost 100 years ago by confectioner Joris Van den Driessche and is steeped in tradition. Joris is one of the few businesses that still uses real acacia gum as one of its basic ingredients. Acacia gum is a great binding agent, but also very expensive. Acacia gum has the benefits of not being sticky, easily dissolving in the mouth and being low in calories compared to starches used in other liquorice.
Hard gums are washed in a steam bath after air drying for a week. This gives them a beautiful shine without the need for animal-derived washes. Joris Sweets is the only confectioner in Europe that still uses this traditional technique.

After seeing ‘how do they do it?’ on TV. I was interested in this brand. It’s tasty, not as harsh as I thought it might be. (Being from a generation that remembers Imps) and I think the anise adds to the flavour. I enjoyed it, shall buy again but I have three different boxes to get thru yet. And you have to be careful with liquorice!

These reminded me so much of the rectangle shaped gums we used to get from the little shop near my grandparents house. They are very nice.
A perfect product made the traditional way with no fillers of any kind. I was motivated to buy it after seeing the production process on "How it's Made". Perfectly wrapped and sent post haste. Very pleased.

Packaging & Delivery
Free UK Delivery when you spend £20. International shipping is available to selected countries. Order before midday for same day dispatch from our UK warehouse (Orders placed after noon on Friday will be dispatched on Monday)
We send all of our liquorice out in boxes, to ensure they arrive undamaged and in pristine condition on arrival. Wherever possible, our liquorice is shipped in letterbox friendly packaging. The majority of our postal packaging is made from recycled materials and 100% of it is recyclable. Once you have received your liquorice, we encourage you to help us protect the planet by recycling it.
For freshness, Lakrids liquorice itself comes in variety of packaging. Once you have finished enjoying your liquorice, please dispose of it in an appropriate way, following any recycling guidance listed on the packaging.
To minimise potentially unnecessary paperwork, we don’t include an invoice/receipt with the delivery but a link to a printable copy can be found on your order confirmation email.
